4 Techniques of Hair Transplant

What is Hair Graft?

6 Steps of Hair Transplant

Preparation Before and After Hair Transplant
For those who are planning to get a permanent hair transplant, what you need to know is how to prepare before getting a hair transplant. How to prepare? Because hair transplant is a minor surgery, preparing your body and health is very important.
Preparation Before Hair Transplant
- If you are taking regular medications, always inform your doctor first.
- Finasteride and Minoxidil can be taken until the day of planting.
- Avoid taking vitamins, supplements, fish oil, ginkgo, vitamin E, ginseng, and garlic for 2-4 weeks before transplantation day which could affect blood clotting.
- Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 1-2 weeks before transplantation
- If there are any white hair, dye your hair 1 day before the transplantation.
Instruction on the Day of Hair Transplant
- Eat breakfast as normal except no tea and coffee
- Cutting the hair before would not be needed due to the doctor’s examination of hair density and angle
- Washing and drying hair before procedure is recommended
- Wear clothes that has buttons in the front to not make taking off clothes impact the hair graft that are implanted on the scalp.
- After the transplantation, it is advised to not drive back by yourself due to the anesthesia effect of dizziness could still be there.
- Prepare a U shape to sleep higher and lock the neck for 1-2 weeks after transplantation.
Self-care After Hair Transplant
- Come to the clinic for hair washing as scheduled and receive basic hair washing instruction.
- Do not touch the wound, poke or scratch the hair in the transplanted area because it increases the chance that the implanted graft will fall out. During the first day, you will need to wear a headband for at least 3-5 days to prevent swelling.
- Swelling around the forehead or eyelids will disappear within 7 days. If the swelling is severe, you can use a cold pack to apply to the swollen area. Be careful not to touch the graft area. For the first 1-2 weeks, sleep on your back with your head elevated on 2-3 pillows. Do not sleep on your side or stomach as this may cause the graft to fall out.
- Do not wear a hat while sleeping. You must take it off before going to bed because the hat may cause the graph to fall off while you sleep.
- It is recommended to wear a hair hat when leaving the house to protect from dust, sun and wind.
- If there is bleeding at the graft site, use a cotton swab to press on the bleeding area for 3-5 minutes. If it does not stop, consult a doctor or ask the clinic.
- After 2 weeks, come back to the clinic to remove the scabs. The graft will have embedded and grown 2-3 mm. long, allowing the scabs to be removed. Or if it is inconvenient to come to the clinic, it is recommended to use coconut oil or olive oil to apply to the area where the hair is transplanted and leave it for 10 minutes, then gently check the scabs at the hair roots. Some hair may fall out as well.
- After 1 month of hair transplantation, you can receive a nourishing injection with Growth Factor, PRP to help stimulate hair growth, increase strength to the graft and help nourish the hair that was not transplanted to be healthy.

Although FUE is a less invasive process, it takes longer and may include several sessions to harvest and implant individual follicles. Strip harvesting is a part of FUT operations.
