I spent 13 years studying specialized surgery, starting at the Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, and then continuing at Chiang Mai University, specializing in ENT. Then I studied plastic surgery at Chulalongkorn Hospital, until I graduated as a lecturer for medical students at Vajira Hospital and opened a clinic at the end of 2013.

During my sixth year of medical school, I began to see my path to cosmetic surgery because I was interested in a specific part, which was the face, which is the most prominent feature of a human being. At that time, there was a cosmetic surgery program that was developing and starting to have a deeper branch called Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, which was a more in-depth study, limited to the face. We studied every part of the face down to the neck, which was exactly what I liked. Another thing was that when I was studying, Thailand didn’t have many skilled cosmetic surgeons. Cosmetic surgery wasn’t very well-accepted, and there weren’t many beautiful cases to see. When I first started, I still used old-fashioned techniques, such as inserting silicone, and doing a facelift with a very large wound. I only did double eyelid surgery for my eyes. There wasn’t much liposuction yet. I wanted to come and develop myself and develop this industry.

In fact, Korea developed after us because their country has struggled more than us. Thai doctors have studied cosmetic surgery in America and other famous places, but when they come back, only a small group of people does it because people are still shy about cosmetic surgery. Doctors that we have are also a small amount, only use the same old technique because there is no competition. Compared to Korea, they developed after us but they realized that cosmetic surgery can solve the problems of their country. They set a goal that their country’s plastic surgery must be number one. Therefore, they formed a group to develop cosmetic surgery systematically and it was accepted. Later, when the Korea fever occurred, there are advertisements, celebrities, and K-pop singers. Thai people began to see that Korean celebrities did cosmetic surgery as a normal thing. Even though they were already beautiful, they still did a little bit to make it perfect. At that time, it was considered a leap forward for our cosmetic surgery industry because it changed alot Thai people’s perspectives. At that time, I was studying facial plastic surgery, and there were more and more cases of cosmetic surgery to do.

      When compared to the surgical field in Thailand, the tools and knowledge are not different at all because the knowledge obtained comes from the West. It is the same knowledge. And it has been noticed that recently there have been more cases of Thais who have gone to Korea and had bad results because Korean doctors may not have done it carefully, don’t fully understand Thai faces, so the results are not very harmonious. Let’s just say that Thai doctors are not less skilled than Koreans. There is only one thing that they are better at than us, which is cheekbone reduction and jaw reduction, because it is something that we do not do very often.
